If you are an avid Channel Four watcher then you will have seen the acid house smiley, pop art style teaser trailer for This is England 90. If you haven’t seen the film or previous series you’re probably rather confused, but if you have, you’re probably really bloody, friggin’ excited mate!

Following Shane Meadows’ cult classic, skinhead film ‘This is England’ in 2006, three spin off series have followed, ‘This is England 86’ ‘This is England 88’ and now ‘This is England 90’ which will be the final instalment of the gang comprised into four sixty minute episodes. And it looks like it’s going to be a big one.

Writer Shane Meadows has shared his thoughts on the finale saying:

“We will see an enormous transformation in the lives of our cast over these final four stories as Shaun writes his final chapter with the gang he loves.”

Piers Wenger, Channel 4 Head of Drama has also promised good things stating:

“We might feel like we’ve grown up with Lol, Woody, Shaun and the gang but what Shane has planned for them in these final four parts will ensure that they are in our hearts forever.”

This Is England '90 will premiere its first episode at The Guardian's Edinburgh International Television Festival in late August. Although Channel Four haven’t released a date as to when the series will be shown, this suggests that we may not see it come to our screens until September.

If you just can’t wait that long, then you can watch the most recent instalment, This is England 88, on All Four now.
