Nick Mulvey Releases New Single 'Unconditional'

Beatrice Edwards | 20th May 2017

We haven’t heard from Mulvey since his 2015 debut album “First Mind”, as lengthy spells of touring have kept the songwriter away from the studio. But finally he’s been able to get some ideas down and recorded, and boy are we glad. His new song “Unconditional”, has well and truly hit us deep in the feels.

If you’re a sucker for a good love story, or like getting your heart strings tugged, then definitely give the accompanying short film a watch as it will really get you feeling all kinds highs and lows, it's a rollercoaster guys. The video directed by Bjork collaborator Bastian Glaessner, shows the strains that love has on a couple but all in all describes it as unconditional. N’awww. You see the joy and sadness in a relationship which totally resonates within the song with Nick's soulful lyrics yet upbeat guitar progressions and repeating trumpet motif. It’s an easy listening kinda tune, one you’d pop on to play on your walk to the shop to fetch the milk your housemates polished off without telling you; and I mean this in the best way possible. Make sure to watch the video first as it makes you love the track more once you’re without the video.

It’s been named as BBC radio 1’s hottest track in the world this week and news of a second album is due to be announced imminently. After hearing “Unconditional” we just can’t wait for it to drop.

After keeping us hanging for so long, Nick Mulvey’s giving us a pre summer treat. As well as his new song he’s announced a trio of shows all in June as warm up dates for his soon to be announced, summer live listings. Talk about being spoilt!
