Seattle’s very own feminist pop-punk band Tacocat graced Cardiff’s Moon Club last night. The band are known for their unique, far out signature style, pro-female anthems and bucket loads of energy. Quirkly styled with fluorescent hair, motley outfits, and matching sequined jackets, everyone was drawn to their presence on stage. The audience couldn’t get enough of their energy and enthusiasm.

They opened with “Cat Fancy” and sailed on through a catalogue of tracks from their 2014 record "NVM" and their latest acclaimed record, "Lost Time". Fan favourites “Crimson Wave” and “Hey Girl” jokingly referring to female’s time of the month and mocking the harassment that women experience in the street every day were big hits on the night. They closed with one of their most popular tunes “I Hate the Weekend”.
After the show, we had a chance to talk with lead singer, Emily Nokes, to chat about their tour, Welsh cakes and the unusually sunny weather.

Though the band have been around since 2007, they gained a larger following after their 2014 record NVM, and continued the success as they just recorded the theme song to the reboot of the Powerpuff Girls called “Who’s Got the Power?”. Tacocat are one of those bands that you never realised how much you need to see live until you actually do. So, what you waiting for? Who’s got the power? Tacocat does.
The Last remaining tour dates our as follows:
Fri May 06 2016 – Sticky Mike’s Frog Bar
Sat May 07 2016 – The Lexington
