Embodying the spirit of New York, a gig with Sunflower Bean is loud, fun, and full of exciting energy! On the last day of Green Man 2017, the audience at the Far Out tent was treated to something really special; the incredible live presence of Nick Kivlen on lead guitar and vocals, Jacob Faber on drums, and Julia Cumming on bass and lead vocals. And what a presence it is!

 

From the beginning of their set, Sunflower Bean established themselves as the kind of people we all want to be friends with, acknowledging the crowd and chatting between songs. When they performed their tracks, they really performed! Leg kicks, spins, some intense headbanging; vocalists Nick and Julia looked as though they were having a whale of a time. The band also changed their whole demeanor for each song, showing versatility not just in genre but in performance. Needless to say, the crowd loved their energy!

 

Having performed a lot of new material, I am now super excited to see what the future will bring for these superb New York rockers!
