7 Sets to See at The Garden Party Leeds
Jessica Makin| 23rd August 2015

It’s been 10 years of The Garden Party in Leeds and we literally can’t wait for this bank holiday weekend down at The Tetley. The line-up is ace but there are a certain few acts that you’d be stupid to miss out on, here’s a rundown of our top seven.
1. Todd Terje
This Norwegian DJ is best known for his electro-disco song ‘Inspector Norse’. After releasing his album ‘It’s Album Time’ in April last year, he’s been super busy performing at events such as Coachella, Glastonbury and Field Day. I’m eager to see what this skilful DJ has in store for The Garden Party.
2. Whilk & Misky
Whilk and Misky have only been a duo since the end of 2012 but have already gained a lot of attention. They collaborate Misky’s vocals with Whilk’s production to generate an electronic, bluesy sound. Their new track 'Two Bridges' is deep and folky and I’m intrigued to see what these two achieve beyond their set in Leeds this weekend.
3. Julio Bashmore
With his new album ‘Knockin’ Boots’ just released there’s no better time for fans to see what Julio Bashmore is all about. The classic ‘Au Seve’ is enough alone to showcase Bashmore’s talent but recent release ‘Holding On’ highlights how he has gone from strength to strength as a DJ.
4. Bicep
This duo are from Belfast and own the repository ‘Feel My Bicep’. After watching them deliver an impressive set at Parklife back in June, I can’t wait to see them again at The Tetley. A couple of their current stand out tracks are ‘Just’ and their remix of Dyone’s ‘Your Love Will Set You Free’.
5. Heidi
Heidi has been a Radio 1 resident DJ since 2008. The stream of high quality dates she’s performed at this year show that Heidi is definitely a part of a new house and techno generation, in more ways than one. Her label Jackathon Jams that was launched in 2012 has aided this genre of music by showcasing a plethora of house and techno talent.
6. Grandmaster Flash
This musical legend was part of the birth of hip-hop and first had the idea to scratch a record. His group’s iconic electro rap song ‘The Message’ is motivation enough to go and see him and his DJ sets are famous for delivering all sorts of genres with impressive continuity.
7. Joy Orbison
2009 hit ‘Hyph Mngo’ got this UK DJ off the ground in the underground music world. His music is a big beautiful mix of ‘dubstep, old school jungle, garage, funk and house music.’I’ve heard only good things about this guy, so I’m expecting a lot from his set on Saturday.
