The past 2 Years have been a whirlwind for 19 year old singer songwriter Bridie Monds-Watson. With successful European and North American tours, she’s been subject to a fair deal of attention.
With her debut album ‘Before We Forgot How To Dream’ receiving encouraging reviews she’s exceeded her own expectations and risen in to a respective stature. Whenever anyone pops onto the scene as young as she was and still is, a sense of excitement and intrigue is to be expected. Having been a regular this summer during the festival season she’s only promoted herself even further and bolstered her fan base, and deservedly so.
Her smooth optimistic approach to teenage life in her album has reached her audience with meaningful impact. She’s allowing people to relate to her tales. With many young artists and popular figures forever trying to get attention by pulling some obscene stunt for publicity, I always welcome artists like SOAK with open arms. Her oh-so-humble approach to the recognition she’s receiving is very refreshing in this day and age. In other words, no one likes a dick head.
So it’s safe to say that the future is bright for the Derry local. Her fan base should only strengthen while more and more people jump on the SOAK bandwagon. Her album has become a favourite of ours and her humour also allows her to stay relatable.
