Boomtown Fair Review

I made my first trip to Boomtown this year, and I am struggling to find any words to describe my experience. The amount of effort that must go in to setting up the whole city is something that I cannot even comprehend.
Before the event, there is plenty of background story information on the history of the city, and this year the whole idea was to revolt against the leader, everywhere you went there were signs and actors playing up to the whole storyline. They really get everybody involved in this fictional city and its story so well that it feels like you have entered a different world.
There really is something for everyone, and what makes it different to most festivals is the ability to camp in the arenas. Each arena is split into districts, so you can camp in the area where the music is most suited to you. This set up makes for much less queuing, which already means everything seems so much more relaxed and laid back than others. You aren't herded like cattle to get through single person barriers, to go to a stage that is too big and too crowded to be able to appreciate the music like it should be.

The only advice I was given before heading to Boomtown was to keep moving, no matter how much I like one place, to keep exploring because there is always more, and that is something that I cannot agree with more. Wherever you go, whatever room you go in to, there will be another room through a tunnel in the ground that will lead you to something completely different, whether it be a gypsy rave van full of transvestites or a rock pool with nothing but water bouncing to the bass.
I have nothing negative to say, even if you go there not liking certain types of music, you will leave loving it. Inside the 'Job centre' was a lot of bass heavy techno and trance, which, at the minute, is quite a niche genre, but the atmosphere and the amount of fun just being inside that room made everyone have an amazing time.
The whole place is just full of people that just absolutely love to party, I experienced no rowdiness, no fights, just love, and I have come home with only regrets that I haven't been before now.
Preparation for Chapter 8 is already under way and you can check out the facebook page here
